London, UK – 26 May 2026: IrisGuard is pleased to announce another practical milestone in Jordan’s digital transformation journey, with tour guides in Petra set to receive monthly salary payments through their EyePay® Network, using Jordan’s National Iris Trust Authority at the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MODEE).
In line with MODEE’s vision for a secure, inclusive and citizen-centred digital economy, this initiative demonstrates how trusted digital identity can move from registration to real-world service delivery. With a simple glance, eligible tour guides can receive their monthly allowances securely, without cards, PINs, passwords or additional onboarding.
The first group to benefit are members of Jordan's Tour Guides Association, primarily operating in Petra, following an agreement signed with Cairo Amman Bank Jordan. The programme will initially support around 500 tour guides, rising to approximately 1,200 during the summer season, with monthly allowances paid by the Ministry of Tourism through IrisGuard’s EyePay® Network.
Because the payments are linked directly to the national iris database certified by MODEE, beneficiaries do not need to re-register or undergo a separate onboarding process. Their digital identity is already established, trusted and ready to use. This creates a faster, more secure and more convenient way to distribute payments, while ensuring that funds reach the rightful recipient.
“This is Jordan’s digital vision, quite literally, in action,” said Imad Malhas, Founder & MD at IrisGuard. “By using iris recognition as a trusted digital ID, MODEE has created the foundation for services that are secure, seamless and built around people. Extending EyePay® to Petra’s tour guides shows how national digital identity infrastructure can support everyday livelihoods with no additional friction.”
The initiative highlights the strength of Jordan’s national iris identity framework and its ability to support multiple sectors, from financial inclusion and government services to tourism and social protection. It also reinforces the role of EyePay® as a proven solution for secure digital payments, where identity assurance is delivered through the iris and services can be accessed instantly.
As Jordan continues to advance its digital transformation agenda, we remain committed to supporting scalable, trusted and inclusive solutions that turn national vision into real-world impact.
